Match Report - Ashville defeat Allscott Heath 3-0

Ashville got back to winning ways on Saturday with a fine 3-0 win over Allscott Heath to push them closer to the playoff spots. The home side dominated the game and it took 14 minutes for the home side to create the first clear chance. Forward Ben Greenop ran through the centre of Allscott’s defence, beating two men only to see this shot come back off the post. On 27 minutes the lively Tom Davies beat his man on the right and fired in a cross only for the defender to clear. On 44 minutes it was Greenop again who chased down a loose ball and his shot was agonisingly just the wrong side of the post. Both sides went in at the break level, but the score line flattered the visitors with goalkeeper George Huyton not called in to action. Ashville turned up the attacking pressure at the start of the second half and got their reward on 49 minutes. The excellent Tom Davies flew past his man on the right side and whipped in a cross for Jack Edwards to head home. Ashville continued to camp in Allscott’s half with the away side rarely causing the home defence any issues. The build up of pressure told on 84 minutes, Jack Edwards found Connor Courtnell in the box and his third attempt at goal found the back of the net to double Villa’s lead. There was still time for more. Joel Kelly was played through and was one on one with the keeper only for Allscott’s Denz Makwara to pull him back and deny a goalscoring opportunity, with the player shown a red card.The resulting free kick was perfectly placed in the bottom right corner by Jack Edwards for his second goal of the game. A fine display from Ashville capped off by a great performance from man of the match Tom Davies. 

Ashville face a double game week, away at Alsager Town on Tuesday 10th February before facing Barnton at home on Saturday 14th February 3pm kick off.
